What Your Child Will Learn at Sunday School

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu, dear families.

Every parent dreams of raising children who are confident in their faith, grounded in good character, and guided by the light of Islam. In today’s fast-paced world, where distractions are many and Islamic values are often overlooked, Sunday School becomes more than just a class—it becomes a safe haven.

This is where children not only learn about Islam but also learn to live Islam. It’s where Qur’an lessons are connected to everyday life, where the stories of the Prophets ﷺ inspire young hearts, and where acts of worship become natural habits. It’s also a space where friendships grow, questions are welcomed, and identity is strengthened.

Our curriculum is designed with one purpose in mind: to nurture the whole child—heart, mind, and soul. From Qur’an recitation to character building, from learning duas to engaging in creative activities, every subject is chosen with care to give students a balanced, meaningful Islamic education.

Here’s an overview of what your child will explore with us this year.

Core Subjects

Qur’an Reading & Tajweed
Children will learn how to recite the Qur’an correctly with proper tajweed. From recognizing letters to developing fluency, this is the foundation of their Islamic learning.

Qur’an Memorization (Hifz)
Step by step, students will memorize short surahs, essential duas, and selected longer passages. This not only strengthens memory but also nurtures a lifelong bond with the Qur’an.

Islamic Studies
Covering Aqeedah (beliefs), Fiqh (basic rulings), Seerah (life of the Prophet ﷺ), and Islamic history, these lessons build a deep understanding of what it means to live as a Muslim.

Akhlaaq & Adab
Good manners and character are central to our deen. Children learn everyday etiquettes like kindness, honesty, respect, and patience—values that shape them into better Muslims and better people.

Ibaadah Training
Students practice essential acts of worship such as Salah, Wudu, fasting basics, Zakat awareness, and an introduction to Hajj. These lessons help children develop consistency in their worship.

Supporting Subjects

Arabic Basics
Children are introduced to the Arabic language through letters, simple vocabulary, and grammar. This helps them understand the Qur’an better and appreciate the beauty of the language.

Stories of the Prophets
Through age-appropriate storytelling, children learn timeless lessons from the lives of the Prophets عليهم السلام. These stories inspire faith, courage, and moral clarity.

Islamic Values in Daily Life
From showing kindness to parents to being responsible with time, these lessons bring Islam into everyday routines.

Islamic Etiquettes
Children practice greetings, eating manners, behavior in the masjid, and other etiquettes that make them confident in their Islamic identity.

Contemporary Issues & Identity
Older students explore how to live as Muslims in today’s world—building resilience and pride in their faith while navigating modern challenges.

Supporting Subjects

Nasheeds & Islamic Songs
Joyful recitations and songs make learning fun and help children connect emotionally with their deen.

Arts & Crafts with Islamic Themes
Hands-on activities such as Ramadan calendars, masjid models, and Eid cards keep learning creative and engaging.

Community Service Projects
Small acts of service, like food drives or helping elders, show students how to live Islam through action.

Public Speaking & Presentations
Children practice reciting Qur’an, giving short talks, and sharing reflections—building confidence and communication skills.

Islamic Calendar Events
Special programs during Ramadan, Hajj season, and the Islamic New Year make learning meaningful and connected to real-life faith practices.

Final Thoughts
Sunday School is not only about teaching facts; it’s about shaping the next generation of Muslims with strong faith, good character, and confidence in their identity. By engaging in these subjects and activities, your child will not just learn about Islam—they will learn to live Islam.

May Allah put barakah in this effort and help us raise children who are guided, confident, and compassionate.

JazakumAllah Khairan for being part of this journey.
