Appreciation Prize – Ehsaas Awards
The Habit Building Series, an initiative by Wings Play and Primary School, stands as a shining example of value-based education, earning the appreciation prize in the prestigious Ehsaas Awards. Designed to instill positive habits and moral values in students, the program addresses the challenges of modern parenting, screen dependency, and a decline in traditional values.
The Problem Statement
Modern parenting often revolves around material gratification rather than moral or ethical nurturing. This shift has led to a generation of children who are glued to screens, lack respect for elders, and are unaware of traditional Islamic teachings. Such trends not only hinder personal development but also risk creating a self-centered, undisciplined society. To counter these effects, the Habit Building Series was designed as a fun and interactive way to engage students and their families in fostering values and discipline.
Execution and Collaboration
The Habit Building Series was meticulously planned to ensure maximum participation and impact.
Each week, students received a habit card featuring manageable tasks such as praying daily Salah, saying “Salaam” when entering the house, and eating healthy. These tasks, validated by parents and monitored by teachers, encouraged accountability and strengthened the bond between children and their families. Rewards, both at home and in school assemblies, kept students motivated while fostering consistency and discipline.
Execution and Collaboration
The Habit Building Series achieved remarkable results:
- Improved Discipline: Students became more respectful, obedient, and helpful at home.
- Better Habits: Activities like praying on time, eating healthy, and daily physical exercise became routine.
- Enhanced Productivity: Students completed school work and chores more efficiently.
- Mental Well-Being: Regular habits instilled a sense of calm, focus, and self-confidence.
Building on this success, the school launched the “Buy Your Jannah Series,” a gamified system promoting obedience and personal growth. This initiative has left a lasting impact on students and their families, making the Habit Building Series a true celebration of education’s transformative power. It’s a well-deserved recognition of a program that changes lives.
